I suspect this is happening when new segment of archival history is created and caused by large number of farmers connected to the same node

If I reduce the number of farms significantly, then I won’t have this problem.

So, is it indeed possible that the problem is caused by having too many farms? Is there a way to solve this?

We’ll see if things improve with upcoming releases and jsonrpsee library upgrade, but generally RPC in Substrate seems to have difficulties with our usage pattern.

[Farming cluster](https://forum.autonomys.xyz/t/farming-cluster/3041) should solve it though once implemented.

The functionality of the farming cluster seems to have already been developed by someone. Unfortunately, they are unwilling to share it and have embedded it into their own .exe for the purpose of charging a fee for its use in the future… If the official developers could release it before the mainnet launch, it might prevent many issues related to node centralization.

Regarding the next version, when is it expected to be released? I will try it out then and give you feedback.

I’d like to ask, if someone uses another person’s node, but the reward address left on the farm is their own, does the person providing the node have any way to steal a portion of the reward that originally belongs to themselves?

Actually yes, the only thing farmer receives right now is the hash to sign, farmer doesn’t know what that hash represents and node is assumed to be trusted, which is why you should run your own.

So, does this mean that third-party node providers can cheat by forging hashes and then steal farm rewards?

Of course, I use my own node, but in the Chinese community, someone is promoting their third-party node heavily, and I don’t know what their motive is for advertising their third-party node for free.

Had a similar issue a few days ago with latest version.  
I have 50TB plotted over about 25 plots, spread over 15 farmers (each ssd got a farmer) under one node, and my node went out of sync (first time it happened). Restarting the node didn’t work, as the pc actually went offline and couldn’t connect.  
Restarting the pc fixed the issue, and now all the plots are spread unevenly over 6 farmers.

As I understand from this discussion, we should keep the number of farmers low. But is there a limit to the number of plots or to the total size of plots under one farmer? And under one node?

The limit is your CPU/RAM, no hardcoded limit. I mean there is a limit of 256 farms per farmer, but it is unlikely that you’ll reach it in practice.

I think he encountered the same problem as me. I launched two nodes in the same computer and IP environment. One node connected to many farms, while the other node did not connect to any farm. The node that connected to many farms would encounter a syncing issue after running for a few days, specifically a 0bps situation, but it would automatically recover after some time. As for the other node that didn’t connect to any farm, it kept syncing without any other issues.

So, I think if a node connects to too many farms, there indeed exists a problem.
