Autonomys Nigeria Hub – Developer Gateway & Incubation Launch

Proposal Status: Draft (For Community Review & Contribution)
Proposed Duration: 3 months
Proposed Amount: $30,000 USD
Proposed Hub Name: Autonomys Nigeria Innovation Hub
Author: @unite
Collaborating Partners: BEI Consultancy, MitaSchool, FTLD

Executive Summary

The Autonomys Nigeria Innovation Hub is proposed as the official regional gateway for developer activation, technical onboarding, and incubation pipeline creation across Africa, starting in Nigeria.

Through a 3-month activation phase, the Hub will:

  • Launch developer onboarding, hackathons, and technical workshops using the Autonomys SDK, DSN, and AI Agent frameworks.
  • Build a structured incubation pipeline that identifies high-potential African teams for Autonomys grants and venture opportunities.
  • Establish academic, hub, and corporate partnerships for long-term ecosystem development.

This initiative positions Nigeria as the strategic African base for Autonomys, mirroring what other ecosystems have done through regional node programs, but with a unique dual function of developer training and incubation alignment with the Foundation.

Context & Motivation

Why Nigeria?

  • Africa’s largest developer market, with over 700,000+ tech professionals and 500+ blockchain startups.
  • 5–7× lower activation cost compared to Western regions.
  • Direct influence over key African ecosystems: Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.
  • Proven track record in Web3 hackathons, AI research, and ZK-based innovation.

Why Now?

Autonomys is at a growth inflection point, needing distributed, developer-ready pipelines to localize DSN and AI adoption.
Launching a hub in Nigeria provides:

  • Local developer training and infrastructure testing.
  • A regional gateway to replicate the model across Africa.
  • Ready partnerships with trusted training and innovation institutions.

Strategic Alignment with Autonomys

The Hub directly supports Autonomys’ ecosystem growth objectives:

  • Developer Growth: Local integration of SDKs, DSN, and AI modules.
  • Infrastructure Testing: Enable local experimentation for Autonomys-based dApps.
  • Decentralization & Inclusion: Build community-powered dApps (e.g. wallets, agents, storage solutions).

Partner Ecosystem & Collaboration Framework

Partner Role Contribution
MitaSchool Training & Developer Education Deploy existing developer community (~100 active devs), providing structured Web3 and AI learning tracks.
BEI Consultancy Academic & Industry Partnerships Co-develop incubation and mentorship framework; provide business and research advisory for founders and developers.
FTLD Community Engagement & Events Host hackathons and hybrid events; connect 50+ devs from existing Web3 builder networks.

These partnerships ensure credibility and reach, with a combined potential of 150+ active developers and a target of 200 direct onboarding developers during the first 3 months.
