Game of Domains: The Watcher’s Oath

The Watcher’s Oath: A Trial of Innovation Begins

“When the light fades, the Watchers remain. Not to rule, but to reveal.”

Autonomys calls upon the vigilant. The veiled ones. The guardians of precision.

Today, we launch The Watcher’s Oath - the next Trial of Innovation in the Game of Domains. This initiative invites our most observant farmers, builders, and protocol explorers to take on the role of Watchers: those who see what others miss and surface it for the good of the Realm.

The Oath

To swear the Watcher’s Oath is to take up the mantle of scrutiny.

To watch. To test. To surface the hidden fractures and forge a safer path for all.

The Mission

The Watcher’s Oath is an open challenge to identify bugs, vulnerabilities, and protocol-level inconsistencies in our domain and Cross-Domain Messaging (XDM) systems. We are now in a pivotal phase of Mainnet Phase-2 readiness, and your sharp eyes can help secure the path ahead.

Your Objectives

Submit reproducible reports of issues or edge cases that affect:

  • Token bridging
  • Consensus <> Domain messaging (both ways)
  • Protocol-level staking or claim workflows
  • Domain syncing (snap or full)
  • Operator performance under stress

Note that the Astral staking UI is currently under active development and is excluded from the oath for now. We will adjust this list of items in scope as new testing vectors emerge or are prioritized.

How to Participate

  1. Check to ensure this is a new issue that has not already been reported on the forum or has an open GitHub issue.
  2. Create a post on the forum detailing your findings. Use the tag the-watchers-oath.
  3. Your report must include:
    • A clear and concise description of the issue
    • Steps to reproduce, with transaction hashes and block numbers when applicable
    • Your environment setup, including software versions
    • Screenshots or logs if helpful for triage
  4. Include a way for us to contact you (Discord handle or monitored email)

Timeline

  • Start: June 4th, 2025
  • End: To be announced
  • Rewards: Distributed after the full Game of Domains campaign concludes

The Reward Pool

  • Up to 100,000 AI3 tokens are allocated to this Trial (10% of the Trials of Innovation fund)
  • Reports will be triaged and rewarded based on:
    • Severity (High / Medium / Low)
    • Novelty (duplicates will be merged; earliest post wins)
    • Clarity & completeness of the report

Final rewards will be determined at the sole discretion of the Autonomys Core Team.

Mark of the Watcher

All those who submit valid reports shall be bestowed with the honorary Game of Domains Watcher role in Discord - a sign to all that you have served the network with insight and integrity.

Exception to the Oath

“Even the stars must bend to truth when the realm is at risk.”

Although The Watcher’s Oath formally begins on June 4th, we are making a single exception:

A critical XDM double-minting bug was discovered and reported by a community member prior to the official start block. Due to the severity of the issue we have chosen to include it as a valid submission under this Trial. While this is a great example of a critical find we would like to remind everyone that a deciding factor in reward allocation is the quality of the report - which would ideally include reproduction steps, logs, and a clear impact assessment.

This decision reflects the spirit of the Oath: to surface hidden risks that could threaten the Realm. No other early reports will be accepted.

Let the Trial Begin

The shadows between domains whisper their secrets. It is time to listen.

Swear your oath. Sharpen your tools. Hunt the hidden. Your vigilance will help shape the future of the Autonomys network.

Let the Game continue.

Perhaps there are differences in our translation. I heard about the 100000 ai3 reward at the meeting. It is a reward assigned to the person who submitted an important bug to me last time. Is it still included in the total distribution reward of 100000 this time?

We will get a Chinese translation posted which will hopefully help with any misunderstandings.

Your bug submission is a qualifying entry to the initiative. This means that when the campaign concludes it will be evaluated against all other submissions for relative severity, novelty and the quality of the report itself. That will be how your share of the total, up to 100,000 AI3, reward pool will be determined.

(The Watcher’s Oath) —— Game of Domains

  • Token

  1. 确认该问题未被社区论坛GitHub Issues 报告过;

Game of Domains,

A second eligible entry from @uuliao here Protocol-level staking or claim workflows-BUG submit

Thanks for your contribution and continued efforts to search in the dark places others do not!

Thank you for acknowledging my work.
I think what I am doing is a job called ‘black box testing’ in the industry. It differs from ‘white box testing’ in that it is conducted without knowing anything and without official assistance. Identify software issues. You should know these two words.

Now I have a question for official discussion: I have submitted two bugs. For me, it’s definitely not the final number of bugs that can be found. For me, submitting one more or one less doesn’t really matter anymore. Because the total reward is fixed at 100000 pieces. I am confident that I can receive most of the rewards.

So the problem is: others no longer have the motivation to submit, and I don’t have the motivation to submit either. Because there are only so many rewards, putting in more effort for this may not necessarily be worth it.

These issues have actually existed for a long time, but no one has noticed or is willing to submit them. Even if submitted, it is only a matter of one sentence and cannot form a report.

Making a report requires more than just a few sentences. Although I said it very simply. But behind the scenes, various variable tests were conducted to identify the problem. It’s as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack.

So I hope the official can increase the overall number of rewards and encourage more people to participate in this activity.
