Autonomys’ Rebranding Reveal + Stake Wars 2 Announcement

We had a blast sharing our latest updates and future plans during the first community call under our new name — Autonomys — on June 19th. If you missed it or need a refresher, here’s a quick rundown of everything you need to know.
Recap & Rebrand Reveal
Ryan kicked things off with a heartfelt recap of our incredible journey, revisiting some of our highlights since our launch as Subspace in 2021. These included Stake Wars — which witnessed huge community participation in testing our proof-of-stake model — and the Mini Space Race — which saw an amazing 8PiB be plotted in just six days — a testament to our readiness. Thanks to our dedicated community, our current testnet now boasts over 7,000 nodes pledging >140 petabytes of storage.
Ryan then unveiled the Autonomys Network, built on the Subspace Protocol. The Autonomys Network (formerly Subspace) has evolved into a groundbreaking layer-0 blockchain for open, secure and accountable web3 x AI integration. Our DePIN features distributed storage and decoupled execution environments known as domains. Auto ID, our privacy-preserving decentralized identity solution, is the first gem in the Auto Stack, allowing for proof-of-personhood without invasive biometric scans. Our mission is to lead the transition to AI3.0 and offer innovative solutions that truly empower individuals.
Meet Our New CEO Labhesh Patel
We welcomed our new CEO, Labhesh Patel, who brings a wealth of experience from the identity and AI industries. He shared his inspiring vision for decentralizing the AI stack, making creation, distribution and participation in the AI ecosystem permissionless and fair. His goal is to empower individuals and ensure trustable interactions within our network. Labhesh outlined our ambitious roadmap, including our mainnet launch target of Q3 2024. He also mentioned key roles we need to fill, inviting the community to help us find the best talent.
TGE & Compliance
Our CFO Todd explained the Subspace Foundation-led Token Generation Event (TGE), which will mark the production of the network’s first block. Testnet rewards will be minted following the genesis block period, ensuring fair distribution.
Stake Wars 2 Announcement
Jim detailed the much-anticipated Stake Wars 2, a multi-domain staking contest.
- Phase 0 focuses on preparation — operators need to register and invite nominators
- Phase 1 tests operators’ ability to maintain uptime and promptly implement new releases
- Phase 2 introduces side quests designed to test new features
With 0.3% of the total token supply allocated as rewards, participants have much to gain. This contest is crucial for engaging the community in testing our network’s robustness.
Consensus 2024 & EthCC[7]
Members of the Autonomys team had the privilege of attending Consensus 2024 in Austin, TX in late May and EthCC[7] in Brussels in early July.
