Autonomys Network Mainnet Phase 1 Launch
The Autonomys team recently shared an extensive update on our phased approach to mainnet launch. This post summarizes the key points and milestones discussed during the recent community call we held to unveil the revised roadmap.
Revised Launch Plan Overview
We had previously planned to deliver Mainnet Beta which included both consensus and execution (the latter being termed domains in the protocol). The recent Stake Wars 2 launch has shown us that domains are not quite ready yet and require some additional work before being production ready. This is in contrast to the consensus side of the network which has been proven resilient at scale across multiple phases of the incentivized testnet.
The decoupled execution architecture that underpins the protocol allows the separation of the two features and a phased approach has been adopted. Phase 1 is the consensus launch and allows farmers to start securing the network and earning mainnet rewards while Phase 2 will be delivered a little later and will bring domains, staking and execution. Token transfers will be disabled throughout Phase 1 of mainnet and enabled at the launch of Phase 2.
With that in mind, the team has introduced a streamlined roadmap for the Phase 1 mainnet launch, significantly reducing the steps between the current state and the mainnet compared to the previous roadmap. While specific dates for most milestones weren’t provided, several key events and tasks were outlined, with the Phase 1 launch tentatively expected to come in October.
Key Milestones and Updates
1. End of Incentivized Testnet
- Date: September 18, 2024
- Marks the conclusion of the Gemini 3 testnet
- Allows for finalization of tokenomics
- The reward pool across both emission pools represents 4.8% of total token supply
- A community call will be hosted on this date to announce the final incentivized testnet block
2. New Persistent Testnet
- Codename Taurus
- Plans to replace Gemini 3h with a new, persistent testnet
- Will be used for Stake Wars 2 and future domain testing
- The team is open to community suggestions for naming the new testnet
3. Community Rewards Audit
- New priority item added to the roadmap
- Depends on the completion of the Astral rewards checker
- Aims for complete transparency in reward calculations
- Community members are encouraged to participate in auditing the results
4. Astral Rewards Checker
- Undergoing a comprehensive redesign
- Will allow users to view consolidated earnings across all networks (Gemini 1, 2, 3, and Stake Wars)
- Features include the ability to connect multiple wallets and view rewards per phase
5. Genesis Data Contest
- Date: Launching September 11, 2024
- Opportunity for community members to contribute data for the initial network history
- Submissions could include research papers, blockchain backups, or personal content
- Favorite submissions will be rewarded with Autonomys merchandise
6. Foundation Developments
- Working with a design agency on public presence assets
- Twitter handle to be unveiled soon
- Ambassador agreements have been drafted
- Tokenomics details to be published in the coming weeks
7. Product and Engineering Updates
- Astral UX improvements by Marc
- Official GPU plotter integration in progress, with reported 50x performance increase over ThreadRipper CPUs
- UPDATE: At the time of writing, preview builds of the GPU plotter are available and being tested by the community!
- Autonomys whitepaper in final stages of preparation
8. Protocol Security Audit
- Ongoing collaboration with SR Labs

9. Pre-Launch Preparations
